Pink Lady® Apple & Date balls

These apple and date balls are perfect for lunch boxes, as a treat or mid-afternoon snack. The almonds and oats make them quite filling and the dates and apples add a delicious sweet flavour.

Serves: Makes 20 - 24 balls

  • 25 raw almonds
  • 500 ml (2 cups) oats
  • 125 g pitted dates, chopped
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) desiccated coconut
  • 5 ml (1 tsp) ground cinnamon
  • 2 Pink Lady® Apples with the skin, coarsely grated


  1. Place almonds in a food processor and blend until coarsely ground. It should be about 60 ml (¼ cup) ground almonds.
  2. Add oats and blend to form a finer consistency, like a coarse flour. Add dates, coconut and cinnamon and blend until well combined.
  3. Spoon in the grated apples and blend until it almost resembles a biscuit dough.
  4. Roll into balls, using about 15 ml (a tablespoonful) of the mixture per ball.
  5. Pack into an airtight container and store in the fridge for no more than 3-4 days.

Chef's Tip

Substitute the almonds with macadamia nuts, if preferred.

Pink Lady® Appel-en-dadelballetjies

Serves: Lewer ongeveer 20-24 balletjies.


  • 25 rou amandels
  • 500 ml (2 k) rou hawermout
  • 125 g dadels, grof gekap
  • 60 ml (¼ k) fyn klapper
  • 5 ml (1 t) gemaalde kaneel
  • 2 Pink Lady® appels, met die skil aan grof gerasper


  1. Meng amandels in ’n voedselverwerker tot grof gemaal. Dit moet sowat 60 ml (¼ k) gemaalde amandels wees.
  2. Voeg die hawermout by en meng tot ’n fynerige meel vorm. Voeg die dadels, klapper en kaneel by en meng deur.
  3. Skep die gerasperde appels by die mengsel en meng met die voedselverwerker tot di tamper soos koekiedeeg lyk.
  4. Rol balletjies van sowat 15 ml (‘n eetlepelvol) van die mengsel.
  5. Verpak in ’n lugdigte houer en bêre in die yskas vir nie meer as 3-4 dae nie.
